Kristi Kaeli....

I've had the opportunity to have Kristi on my team for the last 8 months. I can't picture being on a team without her.

She came in to this race a little closed.

Sometimes quiet and uncertain.

Not fully believing and feeling God's love.

Desiring deep relationships but not knowing where to start.

She also came in mature, kind, and desiring to love people the way Jesus does...

She has GROWN.

God is TRANSFORMING her.

She is MATURE beyond her years.

She has OPENED UP

She KNOWS and FEELS GOD'S LOVE for her.

She is BOLD when she speaks.

She STEPS OUT of her comfort zone.

She is GIVING. She is KIND.  She LOVES

She is a woman of GREAT FAITH

She PURSUES deep FRIENDSHIPS.

She is OBEDIENT to God by continuing to ask for donations even when she is tired of doing so...

God wants her here. He told us so.

He hasn't made it easy for her to raise money and in that he has taught her TRUST, FAITHFULNESS, PERSERVERENCE.

He always provides through the hearts of people like YOU!!

NOW. MORE THAN EVER...

She needs YOUR help. She has less than 3 months left and more than $4,000 to raise.

THIS CAN BE DONE. THROUGH YOU!!

Please give.

EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS. Seriously, every dollar makes a difference....whether it is $5 or $500 it will add up to get her where she needs to be.

To donate, please visit www.kristikaeli.theworldrace.org and click on "Support me!" or click HERE to give today.

Favorite Photos Part II (Uganda)

Uganda.

It was a 2 hour truck ride to town but we were able to enjoy the early morning sunrise.
Stunning.
God's creation is breathtaking even when you are freezing in the back of a truck.

Heading to a place called Fort Portal I caught this in passing.

On the way to Fort Portal we also met this little guy
and gave him a banana.
Isn't he so cute?

TEAM ESTABLISH DOMINANCE.

These next three photos are 3 of my favorite children. Ever.

Sitting in the back of her mud-hut.
I love the mountains in the background.
She also had a 2 year old not shown in this picture and two older children who no longer live at home.

Uganda has to be hands-down one of the MOST BEAUTIFUL places I have ever seen.

I hope you enjoyed the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them....

Until next time...

Favorite Photos Part I (Kenya and Tanzania)

This year I've learned how to use Kathryn's awesome Nikon and I've found my new favorite passion...Photography.

Here are more than a few of my favorites from Kenya and Tanzania.

Kenya.

Met these beautiful children (next 2 pics) due to a fallen bridge. Our bus was stuck for an hour so I ventured out for a bit.

A young man, his mother and her little girl. (Next 2 pics)

How are you?...
Was the most common question asked by children.
I passed these little children everyday walking to ministry.
They brightened my day...everyday.

Our Open-Air street preaching occurred in an open market below this building.

View from our 14 hour bus ride from Nairobi to Mpeketoni.

Met this little one in passing.

Tanzania.

Robert. You've met him through my previous blog. He is joy!

Found this Chameleon outside of our Pastor's house in Morogoro.

Met these two Massai at their village during a day visit.

Beautiful bird in the Serengeti National Park.

You have to love the Giraffe.

And...

Zanzibar

Robert and His Joy...

Joy that penetrates the soul....

Robert...

was sitting on the mat, in front of his house, just like he has probably sat on that mat for the last 19 years of his life.

Robert cannot walk or talk.

I do not know what his mental or physical struggle has been... his entire life

His mother cannot explain it to me.

When we arrived to his house on a random house visit...

I walked over to him, shook his hand and said "Jambo".

He looked at me with the biggest smile I have ever seen.

For some reason....

my heart STOPPED.

I think he smiled and his joy knocked me over.

I can't explain it but my heart was awe-struck.

We visited for a few minutes and spoke with Robert's mother.

Before leaving his mothers house, she said to our translator,

"He only smiles like this when believers come to visit him"

I am still processing God's power and glory in this.

The words I type can't make you feel the supernatural joy that I experienced that day.

The photos I took can't capture his smile.

What I CAN tell you is that God uses others to bless and He used Robert that day to renew my spirit.

The LORD is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him, and I am helped.
       My heart leaps for joy
and I will give thanks to him in song.

Psalm 28:7

Mpeketoni Video!!

As you know, I spent the month in Mpeketoni, Kenya at Christ the King church.
It was an amazing month of being stretched, seeing people come to Christ and experiencing a whole new world....

We were with Team Powerhouse for the month and had a blast with them!!

The Swans put together a video for your enjoyment!

Life in Mpeketoni...

Hello!!! Here are some pictures that describe where we lived for the last month!

Here is the sign for the church where we lived and served.
Behind the sign is a Maze corn field. There were LOTS of Maze corn fields where we were..

We tented it all month and it was glorious!!
I love having my own space in my tent....I never thought I would value that but I do!! The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the roosters with their incessant crowing  that started at 2:30am.  Every morning. Near my tent.

Here is the clothes washing station.
The woman who served the church served us by washing the majority of our clothes. It was a HUGE BLESSING. Without them I would be walking around with more stains than their already are on my clothes. :)

If you are going to wear the same 4 outfits regularly, you should at least have colorful clothes!!

Some of the amazing women of Christ the King Church  next to the kitchen.

More of the kitchen. We ate very well this month!

Now on to where I make myself look pretty.....well...kinda....
Here was my shower for the month....
I think I have mastered the art of bucket showers. You grab the water from the well, carry it back to the shower trying not to spill dirt and water all over you,
pour 1/4 or 1/2 a bucket full and go at it. Sud...sud...sud...rinse....rinse..rinse...
You get the point.

And on to the infamous squatty potty. Now I do have to say that I didn't mind the squatty but I did not enjoy the bats that flew around in there at night. I think Katie Cartwright (teammate) wrote an entire blog about it...enough said...

And last but not least a picture of the night sky in Mpeketoni...

Actually, I don't have a camera that can do that but I wish I did. It was like being in a planetarium every night. The stars were endless!!

Alright friends.....this is all for now...I feel blessed just being able to post these pictures due to the internet connection.

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I was blessed to live life for the last month!!
The people at Christ the King Church are amazing!
They were so hospitable and taught me what it truly means to be a servant of God.

Spending $13 on a Hospital Bill. Priceless

Part of ministry this month is to visit the local hospital twice and pray for those who are in need.

The hospital is not what you and I are used to...

The hospital is....

Unsanitary....

All of the windows are open....

"Resuscitation Corner" is painted on a wall in the corner of a room....

People in their last stages of TB are laying next to people with stomach ulcers....

There are no masks.

After you have been given care, if you can't pay for it.....no additional care will be given to you but you will accumulate more fee's.

Flies are all over open wounds....

and on and on....

The only thing that is the same is:

PEOPLE ARE IN NEED OF HOPE. THEY ARE IN NEED OF THE LOVE OF JESUS.

We spent a morning at the hospital during our first week in Mpeketoni. We split up into groups and prayed for those who would allow us to do so. After leaving the hospital we shared stories and God led my heart to pray for a mother and her son.....

Danny and Nate gave me the story....

A woman and her son had spent the last 10 days in the hospital counting on the aid of the nurses to heal her son. The woman's 2 1/2 year old son had been badly burned by boiling water from his arm-pit to his bottom on the right side of his body. Skin was falling off. Flies were on his open wounds. The little boy was in so much pain and cried often...

Danny and Nate also felt the pull to support her in her financial need. We found out that it was roughly 3000KSH ($39USD) to be able to fully pay their bill which included: the hospital stay fee, the cream to help heal his wounds, and it paid for the cleaning out of the wounds from the nurses. It would allow them to pay for the care they had been experiencing and would allow them to leave the hospital when necessary.

After hearing all of that.....We went back to the hospital....

I met the woman and her son, heard her story, and prayed for her and we were able to pay her bill in full.

Leaving the hospital I felt obedient and helpless all at the same time. There are so many people in need! The only thing that would really help them is the love of Jesus. Knowing Him could get them through any circumstance with hope and a purpose.

I will never know the impact our prayers had that day. I don't really need to know. I know that God has them in the palm of His hand. My hope is that seeds were planted to those who don't know Jesus and I pray that miraculous healings occurred.

Spending time at the hospital made me realize how important it is to use what I have been blessed with to bless others. A little can go a long way...

I know that God has blessed me with so much in this life that it can't all be for me....it CAN be used to benefit God's Kingdom.

What has God blessed you with lately that you could use to help others?

Dear Mpeketoni, I Can't Wait To Meet You!

Tomorrow is a special day.

Tomorrow we will head out on a night bus to our first ministry site in Africa.
We will travel 12 hours to get there. :)
Excitement will be flowing through my veins during the hours I'm actually awake...
which I hope will be very few (sleep is a priority on night buses)
The anticipation might kill me...
okay that might be a little dramatic.....

We will be in the small town/village of Mpeketoni.

We will be working with a Bishop who who has lots of ministry opportunities for us. I can't wait.

ONE LAST THING.....

We will be with another team this month:
We will be with team POWERHOUSE
Bill and Katie Swan
Danny Stinson
Jessie Walsh
Lana Waites
Kelly Williams
and Emily Simpson
Here they are...

PLEASE lift us ALL up in prayer this month.
(Team Current: Carl Wilson, Nate Evans, Kristi Kaeli, Kathryn Gironimi, Katie Cartwright, Amy Book,
Team Powerhouse: Katie and Billy Swan, Jessie Walsh, Kelly Williams, Danny Stinson, Lana Waites and Emily Simpson)

Please pray for:
- Health
- Ministry opportunities
-Compassion
- Unity
- Supernatural communication
- Ridiculous amount of LOVE to be shared with the people of Kenya!
- For God to give us HIS HEART FOR THE PEOPLE OF AFRICA. We want to see this nation the way He sees it!

I have NO idea if we will have internet this month....but if it's around I'm sure we will find it.

So happy to finally be in Kenya
(Only took 10 hours from Bangkok)

Until next time.....

1 Corinthians 2: 9
However, as it is written:
   "No eye has seen,
      no ear has heard,
   no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love him"
